Welcome to Animal Rescue Tales. For over a decade I have owned and managed the website helpwildlife.com. In recently trying to enhance that site, which deals with the problems discarded fishing line and trash pose to wildlife, I realized what I was working on really called for a whole new site, so Animal Rescue Tales was born. I envision it as a site where people can share stories on how they rescued wildlife or a pet, both to educate people on a way they may be able to bring a happy conclusion to an animal in need of rescue and also as a way of giving those of us sensitive to the suffering of our brethren in feather and fur the support of knowing, we are not alone.
So use the links to share your stories. Visit my other site, helpwildlife.com to learn of some ways you can help save wildlife, but be warned, there are some disturbing images on that site or wildlife found dead or entangled in fishing line.
If you've come to this site as a result of my fundraising efforts on behalf of Porkchop, click the "Porkchop" link for the story on Porkchop and my blog about him. Porkchop is an old, small, white poodle mix dog I found abandoned in a pocket park across the street from my home. Deaf AND blind, the dog was virtually helpless. I have taken him in and can provide a good secure home for him, but being blind requires confining him to one bedroom for his safety. We take him out to the yard twice a day to run around in a secure enclosed area, but his quality of life would be greatly improved by having his sight restored, which at a cost of nearly $2500, I cannot afford. So I am soliciting donations, through this website, through ebay, and any revenue generated from the advertising on this site will also go to this cause.
I've received many wonderful, touching and funny photos of wildlife and pets over the years, you can find many of those on the pages in the link "Great Animal Photos"
Finally, this site is also a forum for sharing pet food recipes and to educate pet owners on the horrific contents of many of the commercially prepared pet foods on the market.
You will find a form using the link at left to submit your stories and recipes, or if you just want to email me I can be reached at donna@helpwildlife.com.
